Keeper’s Vessel — SR-0027
A feeding jar for lanterns: brine in the belly, sugar in the neck.
A lantern had to be fed, and this is what it was fed from: a two-chambered vessel, brine below and sugar syrup above, with a slow wick of fibre that let the lantern drink through the night.
The shape recurs across the whole Age of Lanterns with almost no change. The Ithra considered it finished. They did not improve things that were already kind.
Profile reconstructed from three partial descriptions and one poem. Neck proportion uncertain (±8%).
Integrity 77%. Glazed clay, sugar residue. 26 × 18 cm.
