Between Sollen and Mereth lay the Scatter — the rubble of a world that never formed. The Ithra mined it lightly through the Long Noon and heavily during the Great Encoding.

Nearly every mirror of the Choir was cast from Scatter glass. The belt, they said, finally became something.
