The Reading Crown — SR-0134

Worn by each Ithra who chose to be read into the Choir.

To be read into the Choir, an Ithra wore this crown of nested rings for one night. It did not take their memories; it asked for them, one at a time, and recorded only what was given.

Almost every Ithra consented. The crown was worn by eleven million of them in the last seventy turns before the Encoding.

The ring tilts encode the order in which memories were requested: earliest first, as the Accord of Dusk required.
