Atlas of Near Stars — SR-0092

Every star within four hundred light-years, and not one of them answering.

The observatories on Carrow charted 11,406 stars and listened to every one for a sign of anyone else speaking in light. The results were engraved on a glass sphere, each star a tiny cut that catches the light.

There is no mark on the sphere for a reply. The Ithra added a line of text around the equator instead: we will be the ones who answered.

Cross-matching the atlas with our own catalogues places Vael 36,200 ± 400 light-years away, behind the Cygnus Rift.

Integrity 89%. Engraved glass sphere. ⌀ 52 cm.
